Digitising artwork
We have a professionally equipped photographic studio for digitising your artwork. We can produce very high resolution images sufficient to reproduce all but the biggest pieces of artwork at full size.
We use a colour managed process to give us the best accuracy in colour reproduction “out of the camera” and can further fine-tune the colour matching depending on the purpose of the photograph eg for a website, for smaller than life-size prints or life-size prints, and the quantity. The media selected for the prints also has an impact on the final colour reproduction so we, where appropriate, also fine-tune the image for that.
Printed images are two-dimensional representations. The original artwork could have a 3d element such as oil paintings, that show brush marks, textures and, sometimes, the texture of the medium used by the artists, such as canvas or watercolour paper.
We have choices about how we represent those elements in a 2d image and the way we copy artwork gives us that flexibility.
Secondly we have choices about the print medium, which can also give us different levels of texture and create the right “feeling” for the print. We can choose from flat to soft textured, to heavily textured papers, and we can print of various types of canvas.
Another option is that the artist may well wish to create an alternative version of their artwork. Once we have a digital image it can be changed in almost any way. Something simple, such as changing colours, would be easy to do and could enable a panel of identical images but each with a different colour palette. We would be happy to discuss the very wide range of manipulations that are possible, if this is an option you wish to pursue.
Our objective is to collaborate with you to make appropriate choices and provide you with the best outcome.
